HOLOSUN Screw Compatibility Guide

By April 24, 2024May 6th, 2024Articles, Blog

We hope this guide is helpful to you in making your optic and screw selections. This guide is based on a DIRECT MOUNT scenario. No adapter plates will work with these options below. The recommended screws will be too short if you choose to use an adapter plate. If you have a pistol with a true RMSc footprint (4 recoil lugs) the 2 rear lugs will have to be removed to use our direct mount screws.

We believe a direct mount optic (no plate) is the optimal setup with less points of failure. These are not the same screws you can buy at your local hardware store. In many cases the screws are specially designed by us with better materials and to specific lengths and head diameters to fit the optic and gun correctly.

Blog Should mention both thread and length information in case one needs to order separately.

“Special head design” is just “90 degree countersunk”.
Other head profile is called “machine screw with 4mm shoulder”.

      Hi Mike,

      1. If you click on the screw you can get specifics on the thread and length.
      2. The M4 with special head design is actually exactly that. The countersink hole that Holosun puts in their optics is a M4 screw with a M3 head. If you use a regular screw…even one with a reduced head size that are available online they are too large in diameter for the hole. We specifically designed and manufactured these screws for this exact scenario.
